What is sex therapy?

Overall, sex therapy can help you achieve optimal sexual by discussing issues such as concerns about sexual function, how to talk about sex to your partner, how you feel about sex in terms of yourself and/or your partner.

Sex therapy can be effective for individuals of any age, gender and sexual orientation.

In my office, sex therapy is provided in a respectful way and based on scientific evidence. Individuals and couples from various cultural, ethnic and spiritual backgrounds (faith-based and secular) are welcome. Clients maybe given readings and exercises to do at home.

Sex therapy can be short- or mid-term, depending on the concerns to be addressed and on the couple's commitment to the work.

In sex therapy, you can look into sexual health topics such as:

  • Improving your adult sexual relationship

  • Concerns about sexual desire and sexual arousal

  • Trouble reaching orgasm (anorgasmia)

  • Painful intercourse (dyspareunia, vaginismus)

  • Erectile dysfunction

  • Premature or delayed ejaculation

  • Impulsive sexual behavior (porn)

  • Impact of medications on sexual response

  • Intimacy issues related to aging (menopause, prostate, etc.)

  • Intimacy issues related to chronic condition (cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, etc.)

  • Intimacy issues related to disability (mental and physical)
