Watch it now at How to Talk to your Kids about Sex by Caitlin Shea, MFT Intern

This webinar was led by Caitlin Shea, T-LMFT, Therapist Intern, and a previous Sexual Health Nurse. She has a baby girl and knows she will be asked awkward sex questions soon!

Sex education is offered in many schools, but don’t count on classroom instruction alone. Kids and teens may not hear or understand everything they hear in class. For this reason, sex education needs to happen at home too.

Though awkward, sex education is a parent’s job too. By connecting with your child or teen early and often, you can set the stage for a lifetime of healthy sexuality and communication.

In this webinar, Cailtin Shea talked about how to best approach our kids to talk about sex. They may be exploding with questions and hormones. Giving them the space to safely and kindly discuss the topic will enhance your parent relationship as well.

Your guidance as a parent or caregiver will be key to helping your child become a sexually responsible adult. Be honest and speak from the heart. Learn more about the topic before you talk to them; do not pass old ideas to them because you may lose credibility with them. If your child doesn’t seem interested in what you have to say about sex, say it anyway. They will be probably listening anyway. Just be kind and non-judgemental.

This webinar was presented on Monday, Feb 23rd, 2026, 6-7 pm CST.
