ADHD in Relationships

In my experience with Couples Counseling and Intensives, I have seen brilliant individuals with ADHD struggle in their relationships. And the reason is clear, success at work does not always mean success at home. At work, we need to follow rules and make decisions, while at home, we co-create rules with our partner and divide the relationship tasks.

ADHD brings a lot of great traits and also some distraction, forgetfulness, and hyperactivity. These latter characteristics may be misunderstood by the non-ADHD partner as a lack of caring and love. If both partners have ADHD, both partners will go through this misunderstanding, which overtime leads to resentments and distancing.

It is important to honor the talents that come with ADHD as well as learn the strategies to enhance the relationship. Couples Counseling and Intensives can be a great way to do that. Learn more about ADHD in Relationships by clicking HERE.
